Thermodynamics of monolayer localized adsorption of single gases on heterogeneous surfaces with random topography of sites

Abstract

A systematic model investigation has been made of the simultaneous behaviour of adsorption isotherms, isosteric heats of adsorption and heat capacities of single gases adsorbed on heterogeneous solid surfaces with random topography of sites. The localized interacting admolecules are treated using quasi-chemical approximation and assuming an exponential distribution of adsorption energies. The regions of both supercritical and subcritical temperatures are investigated. The results of this model investigation are discussed in the light of previously published experimental data.
