Some model potentials for the ammoniated electron

Abstract

The dipole oscillator strengths and photoionization cross-sections are evaluated for the ammoniated electron within the continuum polarized cavity model for several model potentials. Two salient features noted are the presence of shape resonances and marked minima in some of the absorption coefficients; the latter are analogous to the Cooper minima for alkali atoms and may represent an early stage in the localization of excess electrons.
