Spin-trapping of the N-methylacridanyl radical in a quinone oxidation of N-methylacridan

Abstract

The N-methylacridanyl radical has been trapped by 2-methyl-2-nitrosopropane in the oxidation of N-methylacridan by 2,3-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone, providing direct evidence for a stepwise electron-proton-electron transfer pathway for this reaction.
