Crystal and molecular structure of 4-aminotetrolic acid (4-aminobut-2-ynoic acid)

Abstract

Crystals of the title compound (I) are monoclinic, space group P21/c, with a= 7.881 (3), b= 6.446(4), c= 11.039(5)Å, β= 129.05(3)°, Z= 4. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined least-squares procedure to R 0.056 for 769 observed diffraction maxima. The molecules are zwitterions linked by a three-dimensional N–H ⋯ O hydrogen-bond network.
