Crystal and molecular structure of imidazole-4-acetic acid hydrochloride

Abstract

Crystals of the title compound are orthorhombic, space group P212121, with a= 20.292(5), b= 4.552(2), c= 7.755(2)Å, Z= 4. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined by least-squares procedures to R 0.041 for 1 060 observed diffraction maxima. The five-membered ring is planar, and molecules are linked by a three-dimensional hydrogen-bond network.
