Photolysis of perbromate in aqueous solution
Abstract
Flash photolysis studies of aqueous solutions of KBrO4 show that the photodecomposition of BrO–4 in 0.1 mol dm–3 NaOH occurs via the reactions [grephic omitted], followed by [grephic omitted] . E.s.r. spectroscopy and optical absorption measurements of aqueous 10 mol dm–3 NaOH glasses containing 5 × 10–2 mol dm–3 KBrO4 photolyzed at 77 K support this mechanism.
