Thermodynamic properties and infra-red spectra of Li2SO4· H2O and Li2SO4· D2O

Abstract

Equilibrium vapour pressure was measured as a function of temperature between 290 and 320 K for the system Li2SO4· H2O(c)⇌ Li2SO4(c)+ H2O(g) and its deuterium analogue. Various thermodynamic parameters were derived from these data. Isotopic differences in thermodynamic properties of Li2SO4· H2O and Li2SO4· D2O, calculated from measured i.r. vibrational frequencies, are compared with experimentally derived values.
