The HeI photoelectron spectrum of sulphur trioxide

Abstract

The HeI photoelectron spectrum of sulphur trioxide is presented and comparisons are drawn with the available photoelectron spectra of sulphur dioxide and boron trifluoride. The results indicate substantial stabilization of the sulphur lone pair in SO2and the possible involvement of central atom dorbitals in SO3.
