The formation of a nitrogen to carbon bond in a reaction of a dinitrogen complex

Abstract

Organic acid chlorides, RCOCl, react with trans-[W(N2)2(dpe)2](dpe = Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) to produce complexes [(dpe)2Cl2W(N2HCOR)] from which HCl can be removed to form chelated aroyl- and acyl-azo-N,O-complexes, [(dpe)2ClW(–N = N–COR)].
