Adsorption at the solid/liquid interface. Part 6.—Thermodynamics of adsorption on graphon and rutile from n-heptane + n-hexadecane mixtures

Abstract

The adsorption from binary liquid mixtures of n-heptane and n-hexadecane on a graphitized carbon black (Graphon) at 25, 35 and 45°C, and on rutile at 25 and 45°C has been studied. The standard enthalpies of adsorption show good agreement with published heat-of-immersion data. The thermodynamic energy functions indicate a strong interaction between the hydrocarbons and Graphon, which is associated with the graphitic structure of the carbon surface.
