Extrusion of nitrogen in sulphoximine pyrolyses

Abstract

Vapour phase pyrolysis of phthalimidodiphenyl-sulphoximide (1a) gives benzocyclobutenedione (70%), diphenyl sulphoxide (80%), and nitrogen; other sulphoximides fragment analogously.
