Quantitative measure of the aromatic stabilization energy of 2-pyridone and related compounds

Abstract

Consideration of tautomeric equilibria allows the estimation of the aromatic stabilization energy of 2-pyridone as 25 kcal mol–1: the method is applied to related compounds.
