Crystal structure, magnetic susceptibility, and electron spin resonance studies of a stereospecific copper tartrate dimer

Abstract

The crystal structure of Na2Cu[(±)-tartrate],5H2O reveals centrosymmetric Cu2+ tartrate dimers with a Cu–Cu distance of 2.9865(9)Å magnetic susceptibility studies, which reveal a triplet state 18 cm–1 above the singlet, and e.s.r. spectra are reported and discussed in terms of that structure.
