Optical rotatory dispersion and circular dichroism. Part LXVIII. Low temperature circular dichroism of etianic acids (androstane-17-carboxylic acids) and related compounds

Abstract

The c.d. of a series of androstane-17-carboxylic acids and esters has been studied over a range of temperatures from –10 to –180°. For this range, the increase of Δε with decreasing temperature appears to be linear. The results can be interpreted in terms of the preferred conformation of the carboxy-group.
