Free energies and heats of ionisation of some malonic acids
Abstract
The improved hydrogen–calomel cell is used to determine pK1 and pK2 for diethylmalonic and di-isopropylmalonic acids from 5 to 45 °C. Standard Gibbs free energies and enthalpies of ionisation have been derived from these results. It is shown, in comparison with similar data for malonic acid, that ΔCp° of ionisation is in some cases specifically dependent on temperature.
