Mass spectra of some group III alkoxides

Abstract

The mass spectra of aluminium and gallium ethoxide, and gallium isopropoxide have been recorded. Results indicate that in the vapour, the most stable forms of the gallium compounds are dimers and for aluminium tetramers. For aluminium and gallium ethoxide there is evidence that small amounts of higher polymer, namely pentamers and hexamers are present.
