Mass spectrum of iodine pentoxide and a novel reaction with copper

Abstract

The mass spectrum of iodine pentoxide has been studied in a number of magnetic deflection and in time-of-flight mass spectrometers.

Circumstantial evidence has been found for a polymeric iodine pentoxide structure. A novel reaction of iodine pentoxide vapour and copper in the spectrometer has been found.
