Platinum hydride complexes. Effect of cis-ligands on J(Pt–H)

Abstract

The preparation of some new platinum hydride complexes [PtHL(AsEt3)2]ClO4 is described. Some of these are obtained as mixtures of cis-and trans-isomers, and the effect of J(Pt–H) of changing a cis-ligand is found to be the reverse of the effect when the trans-ligand is changed. This is discussed in terms of current trans-influence theories. Preparations of some complexes trans-[PtXL(AsEt3)2]ClO4(L = CO, Me3CNC, or AsEt3; X = Cl or Br) are also reported.
