The crystal structure of an iron tricarbonyl complex of a dimer of cyclo-octatetraene
Abstract
The structure of the iron tricarbonyl complex (m.p. 118°) of the cyclo-octatetraene dimer (m.p. 76°) has been shown to be 4,5,6,7-tetrahapto-pentacyclo[8,3,3,02,9,03,8,011,16]hexadeca-4,6,12,14-tetraenetricarbonyliron by the results of an X-ray structure analysis; there is no crystallographic evidence for valence tautomerism in the crystal.
