Solvent effects in the nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of monosaccharides. Part I. Benzene-induced shifts of acetylated monosaccharides
Abstract
An exploratory study is reported of the benzene-induced shifts in the n.m.r. spectra of a range of acetylated monosaccharides. The solvent-induced shifts have been shown to be configurationally dependent and certain trends can be traced. The new results are discussed in terms of a model involving ‘benzene–solute association.’
