Silicon–nitrogen compounds. Part V. Diphenylamino-derivatives of silane
Abstract
Diphenylamine reacts with iodosilane and di-iodosilane to give diphenylaminosilane, SiH3NPh2, and bisdiphenylaminosilane, SiH2(NPh2)2, respectively. Some physical and chemical properties of the compounds are reported: in particular, both are very weak Lewis bases. Both compounds are thermally stable in vacuo at 310°; SiH3NPh2 decomposes at 355 or 380° to give hydrogen, silane, SiH2(NPh2)2, and diphenylamine, while benzene and hydrogen are evolved at 450°. The use of SiH3NPh2 in amine exchange reactions is investigated.
