Structure of the 1:2 adducts of tellurium-, selenium-, and tin-(IV) tetrachlorides and tin(IV) tetrabromide with pyridine
Abstract
Single-crystal X-ray analysis of SnCl4,2py confirms that this compound is an octahedrally co-ordinated trans molecular species. Single-crystal X-ray studies further show the corresponding adduct SnBr4,2py to be isomorphous with the chloride. Previous work on the conductance of SeCl4,2py in acetonitrile is in error. The adduct SeCl4,2py is shown by X-ray powder photography to be isomorphous with the species mentioned above. Raman spectroscopy strongly suggests that SeCl4,2py and TeCl4,2py are isostructural.
