Potassium ferricyanide oxidation of N-methyltryptamine in liquid ammonia
Abstract
Potassium ferricyanide oxidation of N-methyltryptamine in liquid ammonia gave two unexpected dimeric compounds 1,10-dimethylindolo[2″,3″:2′,3′]pyrrolo[3′4′:2,3]azepino[5,4-b or 4,5-b]indole (Va or Vb) and 1-(1-indol-3-yl-2-methylaminoethyl)-3-(2-methylaminoethyl)indole (Vla), the structures of which were confirmed by their spectra.
