Dihydropyran derivatives from the dimerisation of crotonaldehyde

Abstract

The stereochemistry of dihydropyran aldehydes obtained from the acid-catalysed dimerisation of crotonaldehyde is discussed. Spectroscopic evidence for its re-assignment is presented, based on examination of the corresponding acids.
