Electron impact-induced eliminations of acetaldehyde

Abstract

Three classes of compounds are described whose mass spectra all exhibit prominent losses of the elements of acetaldehyde directly from the molecular ions. In one of the three compound classes where ambiguity concerning the carbon atoms involved could arise, the particular carbon atoms have been identified and two possible routes for this loss of acetaldehyde are suggested.
