The thermal decomposition of 2-methyl-2,5-dihydrofuran
Abstract
The thermal decomposition of 2-methyl-2,5-dihydrofuran has been shown to be a homogeneous unimolecular process in the range 342 to 420° and 1 to 40 mm. initial pressure and yields hydrogen and 2-methylfuran as products. Rigorous least-squares computation of data yielded the parameters in the expression for the first order rate constant. k1=(6·77 ± 0·25)× 1012 exp(–48,330 ± 50/RT)
