Unstable intermediates. Part LIV. An electron spin resonance study of γ-irradiated strontium chloride

Abstract

γ-Irradiation of SrCl2 at 77°K results in the formation of an electron-deficient defect which is closely related to the Cl2-centre in alkali chlorides. The e.s.r. spectrum is consistant with the model of the defect as a Vk-centre weakly associated with two more chlorine nuclei.
