Optical rotatory dispersion. Part XLIV. Steroid acetates

Abstract

The optical rotatory dispersion curves of a large number of steroid acetates show the first extremum of an ester Cotton effect at ca. 227 mµ. The signs of these Cotton effects can be rationalised in terms of the carboxyl sector rule.
