Pyrrolizidine alkaloids. The biosynthesis of echimidinic acid

Abstract

[4-14C]DL-Valine is specifically incorporated into echimidinic acid in Cynoglossum officinale L. The significance of this result in relation to the biosynthesis of both echimidinic acid and other classes of necic acid is discussed.
