2,4-Dimethoxymandelamide and 2,4-dimethoxymandelic acid have been prepared by reduction of 2,4-dimethoxyphenylglyoxylamide and 2,4-dimethoxyphenylglyoxylic acid. The mandelamide was converted into 5-(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)oxazolidine-2,4-dione by condensation with ethyl carbonate.
