X-ray powder diffraction patterns of the quaterphenyls and some quinque- and sexi-phenyls

Abstract

The X-ray powder diffraction patterns of the nine quadriphenyls, one methyl-substituted quadriphenyl, twelve quinquephenyls, and twelve sexiphenyls are reported for their value in the identification of these compounds. A Guinier–de Wolff quadruple focusing camera and chromium Kα radiation were employed. The intensities were measured using a photometer. The identification of these compounds in their mixtures is discussed.
