Compounds related to the steroid hormones. Part XVI. Proton magnetic resonance spectra of Δ9(11)-steroidal 25R-sapogenins

Abstract

The proton magnetic resonance spectra of thirty-two 5α,20α,25R- and 5α,20β,25R-spirostans and of seven related steroids have been recorded and the effects of a 9(11)-ethylenic linkage on the proton resonances of the 10-, 13-, 20-, and 25-methyl groups of 12-substituted 25R-spirostans examined. The proton chemical shifts for measurements on 5α,20α,25R- and 5α,20β,25R-spirostans in deuterochloroform and benzene solutions are discussed.
