Metal complexes of 1,4-di-(o-aminothiophenoxy)but-trans-2-ene
Abstract
Chelate complexes of general formula [M2X4·L](M = Pd or Pt; X = Cl, Br, I, or SCN) are formed by 1,4-di-(o-amino-thiophenoxy)but-trans-2-ene. In them, each metal atom appears to exist in a different environment. The complexes react with unidentate ligands, such as pyridine and tertiary arsines. Solutions of the complexes in di-methylsulphoxide are non-conducting, but the increase in conductivity on addition of methyl iodide suggests the formation of a uni-univalent electrolyte. Infrared spectra are recorded and structures of the complexes are discussed.
