Introducing RSC Pharmaceutics

Yvonne Perrie
Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, G4 0RE, UK. E-mail: yvonne.perrie@strath.ac.uk

I am delighted to welcome you to the inaugural issue of RSC Pharmaceutics, a new home at the Royal Society of Chemistry for research leading the way in the field of pharmaceutics. Scientifically speaking, this journal publishes research focused on formulating a drug into a medicine, with the intention of achieving controllable drug delivery with high efficacy. But in the wider context, this new forum is an opportunity for the global community working in this area to publish innovative science that has the potential to make positive impacts on worldwide health. With all articles being published gold open access, barriers to disseminating research are removed thereby broadening the horizons for a multidisciplinary and global community to share their research.

Overseen by our inaugural Editorial Board, RSC Pharmaceutics is dedicated to publishing research of high quality and integrity, with transparent peer review as an option for all authors. As part of my role as Editor-in-Chief of this journal, I assess and supervise research through the peer review process to ensure we are publishing research that is scientifically sound and will have a significant impact on the field. I am joined in this endeavour by my fellow Editorial Board members, who are all experts in their respective fields: Clare Hoskins (University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom), Xiaoxuan Liu (China Pharmaceutical University, China), Heidi Mansour (Florida International University, United States) and Assaf Zinger (Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Israel, & Houston Methodist Academic Institute, USA). Our shared interests intersect and align in contributing to the advancement of this field through supporting the publication of quality and novel research, thereby supporting the growth and success of this journal.

Contributing to the improvement of worldwide health is intrinsically linked to supporting a global community working in the field of pharmaceutics, and I am proud that this first issue contains research spanning multiple continents and countries, and includes varied and wide-ranging topics. I look forward to seeing first-hand the future of this field and feel honoured to play a role in supporting authors to share their research.

To all of our published authors and current readers, I want to say thank you for supporting this new journal. To our prospective authors and readers, I want to offer you a warm welcome and look forward to our future exchanges of knowledge within this field.

I hope you enjoy the research published in this first issue of RSC Pharmaceutics as much as myself, the Editorial Board and Editorial Office have enjoyed working towards this exciting milestone.

Best wishes,

Yvonne Perrie, Editor-in-Chief
