Abstract

We thank the authors for the interest they have given to our paper (M. Smari et al., RSC Advances, 2015, 5, 2177), but we find that their comment is oriented according to their previous work and to their own vision of data analysis.

The comment is based on the fact that the Curie–Weiss law is valid for static permittivity and the authors state that there is no experimental data for static dielectric permittivity. We propose that the dielectric permittivity is deduced from the variation of the capacitance with frequency in the range 40 Hz to 10 MHz. For each silver content, the capacitance spectrum is composed of a plateau followed by a decrease with frequency. All values of the permittivity are taken in the plateau region. So they merge with the static permittivity.

The doping of perovskite modifies the temperature of dielectric transition. Such transitions can disappear or occur outside the studied range of temperature. We conclude that the dielectric transition is observed in La0.5Ca0.1Ag0.4MnO3 and not in La0.5Ca0.5MnO3 according to experimental and reproducible data.

Finally, as indicated below ε′ is deduced from the capacitance measurement and ε′′ is deduced from the measurement of tan[thin space (1/6-em)]δ. So an analysis based on expression (2) and (3) are meaningless.

The Curie–Weiss behavior was verified for other values of silver content. The results were published in ref. 1.

We agree that further studies, specially at high frequency, are necessary to identify the dielectric behaviour of this compound.
