Abstract

The reaction between the bis(silyl)hydrazine RNHNHR and butyllithium in thf affords the first monomeric dilithium bis(silyl)hydrazide RNLiNLiR·3thf 1 (R = SiBut2Me) and the crystal structure of 1 is presented; the thermally stable bis(silyl)diazene RN[double bond, length as m-dash]NR 2 (R = SiBut2Me) is formed in the reaction between 1 and Br2.
