The synthesis and characterisation of Ru63-H)(µ42-CO)2(CO)135-C5H4Me)—an example of cluster mediated ring contraction

Abstract

Reaction of cyclohexene with Ru3(CO)12 leads primarily to dehydrogenation with products based on C6H8 and C6H6, however the formation of the cluster complex Ru63-H)(µ42-CO)2(CO)135C5H4Me)1, has revealed that C–C activation and ring contraction is also a significant reaction pathway.
