Palladium(II)-catalysed ring expansion of methylenecyclobutanes and related systems

Abstract

Methylenecyclobutane and its 3-substituted derivatives undergo a palladium(II)-catalysed ring expansion to the corresponding cyclopentanones in good yield; camphene, methylenecamphor, and methylenecyclopentane undergo analogous but less efficient reactions.
