Reaction of N-propyl-1,4-dihydronicotinamide with ferricyanide ion

Abstract

The reaction of N-propyl-1,4-dihydronicotinamide (PNAH) with ferricyanide ion follows a secondorder rate law with rate =k[Fe(CN)63–][PNAH], ΔH 2 kcal mol–1, ΔS–43 cal mol–1 K–1 and an observed kinetic deuterium isotope effect, kH/kD, of 1·68.
