Colorimetric determination of aniline in the presence of 4-aminophenol and other oxidation products

Abstract

The extraction of aniline, followed by coupling it with 8-amino-1-naphthol-3,6-disulphonic acid, and the extraction of 4-aminophenol, followed by allowing its reaction with 1,2-naphthoquinone-4-sulphonic acid, were used for the separation and determination of aniline and 4-aminophenol in admixture. This method facilitates the fast, accurate and specific determination of both components independently. It is suitable for the analysis of biochemical or industrial mixtures containing coloured oxidation products, dyes, plastics, etc.
