Spectrophotometric studies on the determination of 2,6-dichlorophenol

Abstract

Simple, rapid and quantitative analytical methods are described for the determination of 2,6-dichlorophenol in instances when an ether of the same phenol is present in the sample by using near-infrared and ultraviolet spectrophotometry. The mechanism of a generally valid N-alkylating reaction was established in kinetic studies by determination of the 2,6-dichlorophenol produced by the reaction.
