(±)-Deoxyaspidodispermine, whose (–)-form was isolated from Aspidosperma dispermum and demonstrated as formula (VIIa) of a unique constitution among Aspidosperma alkaloids, was first synthesized under stereocontrol to directly prove the correctness of the proposed structure by chemical means.
