Hydroxylation of diamantan-1- and -4-ol with the fungus Rhizopus nigricans

Abstract

Diamantan-1 and -4-ols are hydroxylated by Rhizopus nigricans in a highly regioselective manner, yielding diols which are mostly inaccessible by presently available chemical methods.
