Infra-red dispersion studies. Part 10.—Band intensities and atomic polarizations of some XCH2CN molecules (X = F, Cl, I) and a reappraisal of published intensity data
Abstract
The dispersion of the monohalogenoacetonitriles XCH2CN (X = F, Cl, I) in the liquid phase has been measured in the near infra-red using a Fabry-Perot etalon. The intensities and atomic polarization contributions of the intense absorption bands have been extracted from this data by means of a minimization procedure which takes account of all the available data. The method has also been applied to other data in the literature for comparative purposes.
