Covalent compounds of quadrivalent transition metals. Part V. Molybdenum(IV) dialkylamides

Abstract

Tetrakis(dialkylamido)molybdenum(IV) compounds Mo(NR2)4(R = Me, Et) have been isolated from reactions of MoCl5 and LiNR2. The dimethylamide is a purple crystalline sublimable compound which is diamagnetic. The spectroscopic properties (electronic, vibrational, n.m.r.) are discussed in terms of a distorted tetrahedral configuration (D2d).
