Some unsaturated heterocyclic complexes containing two nitrogen atoms and molybdenum or tungsten

Abstract

Treatment of the anions Na+[(π-C5H5)(CO)3Mo (or W)] with ethyl diazoacetate and hydrolysis gives the neutral complexes [graphic omitted]·OH [M =(π-C5H5)(CO)2Mo (or W)]. They are monobasic and protonate forming the cations [[graphic omitted]·OH]+. In strong base the neutral complexes form the anions [[graphic omitted]·OH] which are isolated as tetra-n-butylammonium salts. The anions react with methyl iodide forming the neutral methyl derivatives [graphic omitted]·OH which are also monobasic and protonate forming the cations [[graphic omitted]·OH]+. 1H N.m.r. and i.r. data are reported and discussed.
