Transition metal complexes as ligands: preparation of mixed-transition-metal complexes of molybdenum or tungsten and nickel, palladium, platinum, or rhodium

Abstract

The complexes (π-C5H5)2M(SMe)2(M = Mo or W) act as bidentate, four-electron ligands and form diamagnetic complexes of stoicheiometries [{(π-C5H5)2M(SMe)2}2M′]2+X2–(M′= Ni, Pd, or Pt), (π-C5H5)2M(SMe)2M″Cl2(M″= Pd or Pt), and [(π-C5H5)2M(SMe)2RhL2]+PF6[L2=(CO)2, cyclo-octa-1,5-diene or (π-allyl)2]. Some of the complexes show temperature-variable 1H n.m.r. spectra which are discussed.
