Determination of manganese in blood and other tissues
Abstract
A method is described for determining manganese down to 2·5 × 10–3µg by using NN-diethylaniline as a colour reagent in an oxidation reaction. The concentration of diethylaniline is a significant factor in the intensity of the colour produced. The manganese content of whole blood was determined after extracting excess of iron with di-isopropyl ether. The manganese content of dog blood was shown to be in the range of 22 to 25 µg of manganese per 100 ml.
