Some new adducts of tellurium(IV) fluoride with organic ligands and their vibrational spectra and structures

Abstract

New complexes of tellurium(IV) fluoride with trimethylamine, dioxan, bipyridyl, and tetramethylethylenediamine have been prepared and their infrared spectra recorded together with that of the known complex with pyridine. The spectra show that all the complexes contain the square pyramidal pentafluorotellurate anion in the solid state: adducts with unidentate ligands, L, have the stoicheiometry L,TeF4 and can be formulated as [L2TeF3+][TeF5] whereas adducts with bidentate ligands, L*, have the stoicheiometry L*,(TeF4)2 and can be formulated as [L*TeF3+][TeF5].
