Tetrahedral oxyanions as ligands

Abstract

The vibrational spectra of a number of normal and deuteriated pentammine and tetrammine cobalt(III) complexes involving MO4n– ligands have been measured (M = P, S, Cr, or Mo), and from the observed splitting of the MO4n– vibrations it is confirmed that the chromate and molybdate groups, like sulphate, can function as mono- or bidentate ligands in cobaltammines.
